UTZ CERTIFIED COFFEE is a better product that deserves a better price.

Coffee with an UTZ certification has extra value; it assures buyers that their coffee has been produced according to a baseline standard for responsible production. Buyers recognize this extra value by paying a price premium for UTZ CERTIFIED coffee to producers.

 

UTZ CERTIFIED premium

Producers are rewarded with a price premium for their UTZ certification. The premium reflects the added value of the UTZ certification of the coffee. It is the difference between the agreed upon price and the price that same coffee would have received if it were not certified. The UTZ CERTIFIED premium is explicitly determined in a negotiation process between the buyer and seller. UTZ CERTIFIED does not interfere in these price negotiations.

UTZ CERTIFIED provides its members with aggregated market information on the average premiums paid and volumes sold per country. This information strengthens members in the negotiation process and enables them to make informed contract decisions.

 

UTZ CERTIFIED administration fee

UTZ CERTIFIED invoices the first buyer of UTZ CERTIFIED coffee an administration fee of $ 0.012 per lb. of green coffee. This UTZ CERTIFIED fee covers part of the operational costs of the UTZ CERTIFIED organization, and enables UTZ CERTIFIED to provide its members with program services such as the traceability system, regional assistance and marketing materials.
